Study trip to Gothenburg

LAA350 is heading abroad and east of Oslo, to Gothenburg. The two-day trip was meant to inspire the students and to strengthen the bonds in each of the teams. While there, we got to visit White Architects and get a guided tour by Gothenburg’s officials at Älvrummet - their entity managing the harborfront developments.

All of the search for a city, transportation arrangements, research on interesting sites to visit, and key personnel to talk to, was done solely by Anja Standal. Even Mads chipped in with a visit Architects, although one might say they were inspired by Tin, but one should not make such a claim. Tin however, was the sole responsible of book a restaurant for 50+ people on a short notice, which led to the famous Pizza Moreno Investigation (which we will come back to later). The runner-up choice was buffet at Ching’s Palace, which has 3/5 stars on TripAdvisor.

The program for the Gøteborg trip is as following:

DAY 1

  • 07:30 Departure Oslo/Ås.

  • 12:00 Office visit White Architects.

  • 12:45 Site visit, Nya Hovås.

  • 15:30 Spare time, with recommendations on sites to visit: historical city, the canals at Kungsports avenue, Statsmuseum, city tour of Haga.

  • 20:30 The famed Moreno Pizza restaurant.

  • 23:30 Night club, Lounges.

DAY 2

  • 09:30 Rendesvouz, Lindholmspiren, Älvrummet.

  • 10:00 Guided tour, Älvrummet.

  • 11:30 Lunch.

  • 12:00 Bustrip to development projects, Lindholmen, Frihamnen.

  • 14:00 Departure Gøteborg.

  • 15:00 Peepee break.

  • 17:50 Arrival Oslo.

The course LAA350 - Projects in Urban Planning is a 20 ECTS course, focusing on the urban development of the city centre in the medium-sized city Sarpsborg. The course encourages studies of structures, massing and in-between spaces. LAA350 was conceived and previously led by professor Elin Børrud, before her departure this year. The teaching staff consist of Anja Standal, the new course responsible (BYREG), Mads Juel Engh (LA), and Tin Phan (EIEJUSS)
