CSO Grad Ceremony
CityStudio Oslo has finally come to an end with remarkable results. Not only did Tin serve as part of the teaching staff (representing NMBU) for the entire semester, but he also hosted the final event at the City Hall. The students from different institutions tackled issues concerning participation, housing, youth and walkability in Oslo.
Concerns about the future of Kjeller Research Park
Both Sverre Landmark and Tin Phan were in place questioning the current direction of Lillestrøm in the local newspaper Romerikes Blad. With the ongoing development on urban, business and societal matters, how will the city centre of Lillestrøm and the professional community at Kjeller Research Park relate to and distinguish themselves from each other?
Keynote at the Eiendomforum’s Conference
Tin was invited to the annual Lillestrøm Eiendomsforum’s conference to present: How to attract knowledge workers? The context of this topic, is that Lillestrøm is currently working with how to further develop or distinguish between the city centre and Kjeller Research Park.
1st Place for Sterudkvartalet, Moss
Another collaboration that led to Tin being selected for further development following a parallel commission in Moss, Østfold. The proposal was a strategic plan for the centrally located site that is flexible and robust.
CSO Poster Challenge
Tin invited some experts for the Poster Challenge on the matter of message and design and the combination of the two. The experts on the matter were copywriter Hans Marius Engebretsen (ex. Rosa Sløyfe), graphic designer Isak Gunrosen (Tryggere Ruspolitikk ad campaign).
APL350 Seminar on Coworking
Tin was supposed to hold a short presentation on coworking spaces for the property & law students, which turned into a 4-hour long seminar. The topic was related to various real estate practices, business models, brands, societal ideals and other tendencies etc.
OUA Program Committee Meeting
Tin was cordially invited to join the program committee of OUA as the youngest member for yet another term. Key takeaways were feedback on OUA 2019, impending OUA 2020 and that Erling Fossen’s favorite colors are orange and purple.
Presentation at Spacegroup
Tin presents his M.O. for Spacegroup. The presentation brought up the concept of a synthesis of 3 main aspects: narrative, analysis and lateral thinking. The reason and result of this meeting is still undisclosed.
LAA350 Midcrit
Tin participated and gave critique to all different projects, sites from Bjerke, Oslo to city centre in Ås. The students were to present their projects so far, with various site-specific tensions in terms of social, spatial, urban economic understanding etc. a product of an interdisciplinary teams (landscape architecture, urban & regional planning and property & law).
Presentation on/in Rural Coworking
Tin co-hosted and presented at an event out in Ål presenting - “Coworking Spaces - funker det på bygda?”. The idea was to differentiate between the urban and the rural model of coworking spaces and to give feedback and reflections on different, yet specific cases throughout the district of Hallingdal.
LAA350 Lecture on Project Concepts
Tin to hold a lecture for the students on how to develop concepts in urban competitions/parallel commissions. Tin differentiated between the expected and the unexpected aspects within each project, pointing out the hallmarks of what makes an entry stand out.
Inside Portrait in the Lifestyle Magazine YPPÉ
Tin is currently covered as 1 of the 47 creative entrepreneurs in the lates issue of YPPÉ, a lifestyle magazine. The 6-page introspective and sincere piece covers Tin’s origins as a kid feeling like a minority among minorities, as a teenager that took upon himself another persona to hide his true self and his neverending quest of finding other likeminded people.
Guest Teacher at Brandengen Elementary School
When Tin is not rescuing cats from trees, he helps out kids in need. Or to be precise - the kids at Brandengen Elementary school (where he himself used to be an alumni) for their First Lego League competition.
Chief Designer of Selvaag’s Exhibition
Tin served as the chief designer of Selvaag’s exhibition at Bydelsdagene Nydalen, working under the director of Development Magnus Skallerud (right in the picture), and property developer Emelie Tornberg. The intention was to showcase different property developers practices that underscored the green shift.
CSO Diagram 1.0
Tin will present his lecture on diagrams divided in 3 parts: specific concepts, higher level of abstraction and the combination of these two into a holistic and complex message. The idea was to give the students other tools than mere text, as many of the are mainly trained in theory rather to give design proposals.
Joining the Teaching Staff of CSO
Tin joins CityStudio Oslo (to assist Elin Børrud) and will also lecture, teach, give desk crits and advise the students on matters related to the industry and market surrounding the topics brought up in class.
Aspelin Ramm Award Commences
Oslo Urban Arena just announced the upcoming Aspelin Ramm Award event. The award will be handed out for the fifth time at the Oslo Urban Arena. Posterboy Tin was coincidently at Young's today with his award at hand, and will not be handing out the award during the event as insinuated in the picture...
Hurtigpraksis Year Three
Tin presents his “Year Three”, presenting the ups and downs of running a company, practical administrative information and not least, the office’s approach on societal concerns and competitions.
Joining the Landbrukskvartalet Resource Group
Tin has been invited to join the resource group for the proceedings surrounding Landbrukskvartalet in Oslo. The group will meet once a month to deliberate the project’s goals and ambitions, or more specifically, the different social stages and important functions of Landbrukskvartalet.
An Audience with the Vietnamese Prime Minister
Tin was cordially invited for the meet & greet with the Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the end of his tour in Norway. The event was broadcast on Vietnam’s premiere news channel VTV. Meanwhile all the other representatives were challenging the Prime Minister on education, business development, foreign affairs, Tin asked for a cup of water.
